black cat race

well i finally had 2 days off in a row. so i used them wisely. Friday began with some good ole putsing around the house, then a 54 mile ride from the southern burbs out to st.paul back through Minneapolis and back with my coworker James. the pace was hard and the ride was fun. i refueled and got down to mankato in time for the black cat race. 2012's kickoff to the mankato alley cat series. ive won this one before, and had to go back to reclaim my title. turns out i screwed up a stop and got DQ'ed apparently that 5 years of college didn't teach me how to listen. the directions were verbal and i went to the brew stop last not first. had i gone first  i would have crushed the competition by well over 6 minuets speaking of them when i showed up they did a collective "oh fuck....werts is in town..." so that made me feel pretty good. afterwards we partied hard and i got to spend some quality time with some great people that i have not seen in months. all in all. i put in 70 odd miles Friday.

Saturday was an epically lazy day in mandatory, with no agenda i rolled around town with some friends. had some great eats from the coffee hag, my personal favorite coffee shop. it felt like home. so here is a shout out to every one that i got to see. HEY Pouya, Tiff, Brombombs, Jay, Windom, Brucacabra, Greggory, Jackie, Pat, Pat, Joe, Biggie, Ethan, Rick, Lucas, Annie, Brady, Justin, Jenna, Nick, Josh and of course the Dogs...Reese and Brutus.

brochester

I got down to Rochester Saturday night for a hangout with mr. wilson. did some good ole fashioned bike geeking, then rode down town to catch Good Night Gold Dust, pit stopped on the way for a brew sesh then got to the bar. Sadly they didn't take the stage till about midnight, with our plans for riding the next day we couldn't stay too late. but with the time change it didnt really matter, it was 3am by the time we got to bed.

woke up late and missed the window for making it out to plainview in time for breakfast. decided lunch at huddles in elgin would be just as good. and yes it was. rode the tail wind out and made great time. had lunch and met up with Trevor and his brother Eric for a bit of a ride back (they made it to plainview in time). after conquering the bike path back to Rochester for a bit, we split our ways and drew and i headed south towards eyota and partly to chatfield. it was a great learning ride, i feel like Ive developed a pretty solid base, this is not the case, drew still out rode me after racing hard the day before. i have some serious training to do for the royal 162 in may. hopefully the rides im getting plus BALLS and the Ragnorak will get me to where i need to be.

any way i cant leave you with a post and no peektures, so enjoy the random photo of the day...

tradesman

So foundry...word on the wire is that your looking for a trades person? some one hard working, dedicated, motivated, and passionate about the sport. Thats nice, it really is, but you know what? your search has ended. here i am. you can have me with all my flaws, and ill through in the broken parts bin while yer at it.

Why do i ride bikes? I ride because i need to, not cause I want to. If im sad, i ride my bike. If im happy i ride my bike, angry? you guessed it. Its the bees knees when it comes to blowing off steam. On the road, gravel, or dirt i look forward to every chance I have to ride my bicycle. Yea i don't have the nicest of rigs, but what i do have are a few trusty steeds that know how to take a beating, don't mind being put away dirty, and some times even beat back. and when they do beat back, its just that much more fun to go womp on em next time. I try to race a lot and ride a lot. Some times with others, more often than not alone. When i do get to ride with others, chances are they've entered the ranks of life time friends. The important thing is i always come away with a good experience and a story to share. Peektures tell eleventy billion words right? Ill leave ya here with some photos of places Ive been, bikes Ive ridden, and most importantly the life long friends Ive made while on two wheels.
